Born on...June 25, 1974

Height...5'4"

Weight...50 kg. And it has been steady. I can eat anything and as much as I want. I just don't put on weight.

Family...What more can I say about the Kapoors than is already known?

Schooling...My initial years were at Cathedral and John Connan High School in Fort. After I did my CBSE, I joined Sophi College for FYJC (Arts). Then I left.

Nicknames...I have several of them. But Lolo is the most common one. Relatives on my mother's side call me Lolima. Some call me Lola. Actually all the distortions of Lolo are my nicknames.

Nature...By nature I'm an introvert but I try and pretend to be an extrovert. It works at times an it doesn't sometimes. Basically I like to be left again.

Believes in...God, my mother and my work.

Superstitious about...Cat crossing the road, keeping one shoe upside down, passing under a ladder...the list is endless!

Dreams...It's the action replay of the happenings during the day. Even if I've seen a film, I see it all over again in my dreams.

Early to bed...yes, and late to rise.

Parties...I'm not a party bird. In fact, I avoid them as much as possible. I love to go to bed early. I like to go to sleep watching the TV or listening to soft music.

Her moods...I'm very moody, but in a positive way. I just don't communicate with people if I'm feeling disturbed. My worst mood is in the morning just ater I've woken up. I drive everyone up the wall with my high-strung behavour. I want everything in a jiffy. My staff and family hates me in the mornings.

Driving force...I know it's kind of boring to say this but it's my work that keeps me going!

Desires...to be an independent woman. I want to make a name as a woman of substance. My dream is to get into business later but it has to be something connected to films. I have to be in this film industry, whatever I do!

When free...I love dancing and that's what I do whenever I'm free. I put on the music in my room and dance till I fall down! My mother often screams from outside asking me to open the door.

Issues she feels strongly about...Orphans and the film industry. I want all the orphans in the world to have a home. and I want the film industry to achieve the status of an independent industry.

Friends...I have very few friends but what comforts me is that they never sit on judgement as far as I am concerned. They care for me and will do anything for me.

The last time she was depressed...just a few hours ago. It doesn't take long to depress me. But I get over it as quickly too!

When depressed...I eat a lot. I stuff myself with lots of ic-cream, chocolates. I indulge myself until I feel nice and snap out of my depression!

Nostalgic about...My childhood, my grandfather and my first film.

Terrified about...Nothing in the world scares me more than cockroaches! If you want to know my secrets, all you need to do is threaten me with a cockroach (even a dead one!) and I'll spill everything!

Hates...People who disrespect their work, whatever it may be!

Strives for...Perfection. And to me that means doing everything that I do with maximum honesty and dedication. I may not be the best, but if I give my best, I think that's enough. I also strive to be a good human being.

Passionate about...My work, what else?

Biography
Great grand daughter of Prithviraj Kapoor, Grand daughter of the showman Raj kapoor, and daughter of star parents Babita and Randhir Kapoor, this blue eyed girl was a student of Sophia College before starting her career with Prem Qaidi.

But even though she appears to have suddenly hogged the limelight, hers is not one of those storybook careers. Although she's poised to challenge the big guns as Bollywood's biggest box-office draw, she's had a long climb to the top. Despite her prestigious debut in Prem Qaidi, her film career progressed in anything but a straight line. She has spent years slogging away, lending her best to hits and croppers alike. But even when critics threw verbal tomatoes at some of the stinkers she worked in, they spared her performances. However, makers never considered her for better parts because they thought she wasn't capable enough to carry a film on her shoulders. But she never gave up hope. A child of showbiz, she knew the ups and downs. She was very aware of the essential fragility of the entire situation. She learnt to play the game: in tinsel town, even an ingenue can't be too young. And through an early starter in the stardom stakes, she achieved much more than expected, for a twenty-one year old.

What's also most notable and has played a major role in her current success is that she has set her own new standards for beauty. While still as svelte and comely as ever, her face is fuller, more womanly. Her eyes are no longer dewy, they bespeak experience. Her baby pinks and blues have been discarded for a more vibrant and funky wardrobe. Her hair looks full and alluringly frames a well made-up face. Her attitude is less spur-of-the-moment and more introspective. It's a miracle what hair, make-up and good designer clothes can do. Today, she's as different as a change from East to West, from winter to summer. She's expanded the options and grounded the future with more possibilities.

Pictures like Sapne Sajan Ke, Jagruti, Jigar, Papi Guddiya, Megha, Krishna and many more were a total flop at box office. RajKumar Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna restarted her career. Anari was aslo a hit but from her films with Govinda directed by David Dhawan she started climbing the steps of success. Her first hit was Coolie No 1,Raja Babu, Saajan Chale Sasural followed by Hero No 1, Jeet and Raja Hindustani which were the major hits of year 1997. Her excellent performance in Raja Hindustani nominated her for the Filmfare and finally she grabbed the best actress award. Her dancing numbers like Sundara Sundara..(Rakshak) and Sona kitna Sona hai... (Hero no.1) reveal her dancing skills. What also pleases her no end is her highly successful collaboration with David Dhawan and Govinda. "Hero No. 1" is our fourth consecutive hit together. It's very rarely that you see a hero-heroine and a director make such a winning combination . I can never stop working with these guys." With the success of Jeet and Raja Hindustani and the immense appreciation and accolades for her work in them, she has grounded her future in films. She has worked hard to get where she is and her mobility, change and continual reinvention of the self have been the key ingredients to success. She's focussed, full of life and energy, real achiever, independent and very strong. She certainly has the great skills, ability and intelligence as her other successful contemporaries. But what sets her apart is from her other successful contemporaries is her fierce competitive edge. She's got enough energy for a thousand people because she loves what she does. She's really enjoying herself and it shows. Coming across as very together and organised, she's quite happily managing her career well. Today her body language is smart and alluring, a charm that effortlessly overlaps more standard erotic appeal. Fans - including swarms of gushing teenagers - carry on about her as the girl they'd most like to be, have as a best friend, adopt, or marry. Producers rave about her boffo box office returns. Her asking price has reportedly increased threefolds to somewhere between 75 lakhs to a crore of rupees. She's also graduated from the song'n'dance roles to stake her claim for the top spot.

Her performances have always earned plaudits, but it has taken an earnest and mature effort in Raja Hindustani to assure her status as an actress of calibre. She was absolutely magnificient in the emotional sequence in the film where she pleads for her newborn infant, one of the best pieces of acting one has ever seen. She obviously does have a very sharp sense of pathos to add to her exquisite sense of comic timing. According to her makers, Karisma comes to an understanding of her part so effortlessly that one suspects she really is playing herself. Her recent releases (and there have been so many of them) have been the sort to inspire penetrating gazes. With her pretty looks and buoyant manner it's not hard to know what to make of a movie star whom other actors and directors repeatedly describe as 'fun to work with'.

This Kapoor girl is on the footsteps of her grandfather and is making her own identity in this film industry. Now to be a queen bee is the the question for the blue eyed actress who has just completed five years in the showbiz and 25 films.

Karishma Kapoor then came with Shahrukh Khan in the film Dil To Pagal Hai. She enjoyed every bit of working in DTPH and said, "Working with Yashji is sheer delight," she exults and continues, "The whole unit is like a family and there's no tension at all on the sets. My role has shaped up quite well in his film. Whereas in the latter film, I have a very interesting role. I play a girl who goes through a lot of turmoil trying to bail her man out of jail. And of course, I'm pretty excited about Mrityudaata too".

Then Karishma started doing more serious roles in films like Fiza for which she got the Best Actress award that year, then came Zubeida which bagged her a National Award for Best Actress.

She tried to return back to more galmour roles but that too with some seriousness. Aashiq was one of her films where she played glamour alongside with good performance.

She delights everyone with her performance in Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya even though the film itself wasn't that good.

She has bunch of films lined up and this Kapoor girl along with her sister (Kareena) are ready to take over Bollywood !!!
