Opening day report

Headed out yesterday from Freshwater Bayou. If your looking for bait Ma@Paws in Forked Island before the intracoastal bridge has everything for your last minute needs. The water was beautiful only 30 miles out, with a nice rip line. We started fishing around the 25 mile mark and caught all the snapper we wanted. Ended up bouncing around due south for another 30 miles or so and caught fish at every stop. All blocks we fished were vermillion blocks between 150 and 200. Diamond Jigs worked extremely well also. Live bait was easy to catch using red sabiki rigs. The mangrove were extremely spread out. With the high fresh water coming out of the rivers I was surprised to see just how blue the water was at only 30 miles. The sea state was calm going out then picked up to good 5 foot, then settled down to 1 foot. It was a great ride in. All and all the snapper are close in as well as the blue water. Hopefully this will last through the short season. Well once again good luck to everyone and be safe out there.
